Join our Archives, Galleries and Collections team, for an exclusive behind-the-scenes exploration of the Esplanade Arts and Heritage Centre. Discover how we preserve and care for the extensive historical records, physical items, and artworks that tell the stories of our region.
Beginning in the Lobby, the tour will proceed through the Reading Room and into our environmentally controlled storage vault. As we move through the collections area, you will learn about the methods and techniques used to protect the cultural treasures in our care—and how we ensure they remain accessible to the public.
With a special focus per tour, our team will highlight some of their favourite pieces and share insights into their significance and preservation. You'll have the rare opportunity to explore our 10,000-square-foot on-site storage facility and engage in meaningful conversation along the way. Questions and discussion are welcome throughout the tour.
The objective of Pay What You Will is to increase everyone's access to our activities, and to encourage our patrons to take a chance on new and exciting exhibitions, programs and shows. As you leave, we ask that you pay whatever amount you wish (based on your own individual experience). You decide the price of your admission!
