Brenda Mercer has been beading for over 50 years, ever since she was first taught the daisy stitch at age eight by her non-Indigenous cousin. Her passion for beading has grown into a lifelong practice of generosity and storytelling. Brenda often carries handmade earrings in her purse, ready to give as gifts to strangers and friends alike. “I made these for you with all my love and good intentions,” she tells them. “I’ve had people come up to me a year later saying they wear them with pride and still feel the love".
