2022 Sunshine Trolley

2022 Sunshine Trolley

***Tours are currently paused due to ongoing maintenance
 ***
Sunshine Trolley tours have been put on hold indefinitely as we work through maintenance issues.
Safety is always the top priority and we will continue to work on bringing the Sunshine Trolley back to full health. Follow Tourism Medicine Hat on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
Questions and comment about the trolley and private bookings can be sent to Mo Cranker: mo.cranker@tourismmedicinehat.com

Hop on-board Medicine Hat’s Sunshine Trolley and explore Canada’s Sunniest City.

With your pass, you’ll ride around the city once to see just a few of the many historic and cultural landmarks. As always, kids 12-and-under ride for free!

Before your ride, make sure you bring headphones with you! When you hop on board, scan a Trolley Stories QR code and listen to stories and histories told by locals.

This year features a new loop around Medicine Hat!

After meeting at the Visitor Information Centre, start your tour with a stop at Saamis Tepee to learn more about a significant piece of Indigenous history. Riders will then make their way to Kiwanis Central Park where they can check out chainsaw art by local artist Marina Cole, as well as Moby Dick the Whale Slide.

After Kiwanis Central Park, riders will weave through Medicine Hat’s Historic Downtown before stopping near the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre. Take your time to check out the Ewart-Duggan House, the World’s Largest Chess Set, the GIANT King Piece, or the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre.

Next up is Medalta in the Historic Clay District, a key piece of the area’s history. After, riders will head to Strathcona Island Park, where Medicine Hat’s name came to be. While at Strathcona Island Park, riders can learn about Police Point Park, which sits just across the South Saskatchewan River.

Riders will begin their journey back to the Visitor Information Centre, with quick detours to check out River Road and Kin Coulee Park.

We take great care to ensure Medicine Hat’s Sunshine Trolley is always in tip-top shape. Occasionally we run-into unscheduled maintenance needs. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does, your safety is our priority!

Additional notes for riders:
  • The Sunshine Trolley is not equipped with air conditioning. Please bring water along for your ride and dress for the weather.
  • The Sunshine Trolley is not wheelchair accessible at this time.
  • Seating is general admission. Please be respectful of other riders’ needs.
  • The Sunshine Trolley was built in 1985 on a motorhome chassis and converted to a trolley. It can be a bumpy and shaky ride at times and may not be a suitable experience for those sensitive to loud noises.
  • Riders are encouraged to use the restroom at the Visitor Information Centre before their ride.
A Sunshine Trolley ticket does not get riders admission into Medalta’s museum. The museum is paid admission only. Riders are encouraged to enjoy Medalta’s exterior attractions as well as the gift shop.

Check out more information on the Sunshine Trolley here.

Adult pass: $15
Children 12 years and under ride FREE! Please note, children must be accompanied by an adult.
