They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Theresa Eisenbarth has much more than that to share about the buildings, people and places behind her series of works, Walking the Flats. Back by popular demand, join the well-known local artist and self- described visual storyteller for a summer neighbourhood tour and trip down memory lane.

Walk the River Flats and wind your way through its streets as you lose yourself to the here and now. Become immersed in the artist’s humorous tales and fond childhood recollections of who and what was. A deeply personal and unique experience, the artist paints a picture capturing the essence of this proud and long-established neighbourhood using only her words. Theresa effortlessly shows us what makes this place special as she tells its stories with equal parts and charm and enthusiasm, as only a proud neighbourhood kid could.

About Theresa Eisenbarth:

Theresa is a full time artist based in Medicine Hat, AB. She grew up in the historic River Flats neighbourhood, and has spent her artistic career capturing the places she remembers as a child. Theresa studied Visual Communications and the arts at the Medicine Hat College and received a B.F.A. fine arts degree from the University of Calgary. After taking a break to focus on family life, she established her practice in 2012. Now, as a full time artist, she spends 40 hours a week in her studio and produces 50-60 pieces each year.

Theresa established her studio in 2013. It is located within the historic Tabor Candy Factory. (the only remaining example of work by Medicine Hat’s architectural firm Bourne & Morrison.) Her studio sports 2000 square feet of working space, and 1000 square feet of classroom space where she teaches art classes and conducts workshops using mixed media painting materials.

Her paintings are in many private and corporate collections across Alberta. They have been featured in the Federation of Canadian Artists Group Exhibits, are sold locally in Medicine Hat and now, Ottawa.
